Banknotes
Petzel presents Walead Beshty’s Banknotes, a series of unique collages of US dollar bills cut and rearranged into singular geometric compositions. In layering the misalignments with 24 karat gold leaf, Beshty pays homage to the Japanese concept of Kintsugi, in which objects are mended with gold to highlight rather than cover up imperfections.
Now available exclusively online, these one of a kind works are made to order and priced at 100x the banknote’s face value: 1-dollar bills are $100, 2-dollars $200, 5-dollars $500, 10-dollars $1,000, 20-dollars $2,000, 50-dollars $5,000, and 100-dollars $10,000.
