The sculpture, produced by Beyer Projects, draws inspiration from Landers’ 2016 painting Snowman in Brueghel, which sets a weeping snowman against the backdrop of Pieter Bruegel the Elder’s The Hunters in the Snow (1565).

Snowman offers a striking visual interpretation of vulnerability, exploration of time, and longing for permanence. As Landers reflects, “Looking at the melting snowman, I realized it represents one of my biggest anxieties—that my art will recede with time and not matter.”
